- Background:
A classic single barrel bourbon made by eight generations of the Medley
family of Owensboro. Henry Hudson Wathen was one of the first know
bourbon makers in Kentucky, and was known to have been operating a
distillery near Lebanon, KY in the late 1800's. The Wathen's
later acquired the Old Grand Dad label and produced that bourbon for
some time. As well the Medleys marked Western Kentucky as an
important part of the Bourbon area. At one point, they owned and
operated three distilleries all in a row along the western side of
Owensboro, one being the current Charles Medley site.
